Instructions for Attendees

If you would like to attend the seminar, please register using the link on the main page of this website. After registering, you will be sent a confirmation email with a link that will allow you to join on Friday. Each attendee has a private link to join, so you do need to register yourself. We will not email or post a general link at this time. On Fridays, please plan to join the seminar shortly before the start time (currently 5pm Berlin, 4pm London, noon ET, 11am CT, 9am PT). You can join the seminar by following the link in the confirmation email that is sent to you after registering.

We encourage your participation during the seminar!

Given the substantial number of signups, the seminar will take place in the form of a "Zoom webinar." As an attendee, you will not be able to unmute yourself. Please send your questions for the speaker during the seminar to "all panelists" using the Zoom chat feature. Time permitting, and depending on the volume of questions, the moderator will either ask your question for you or confirm with you via chat to ask the question yourself and unmute you at a suitable time. To access the Zoom chat feature, you may need to click on a button "Chat" that appears when you move your mouse to the bottom of the video; it is explained in more detail on the Zoom support pages here:
https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/203650445-In-Meeting-Chat
Note that some chat features will be disabled for the webinar. Time permitting, there will also be an additional Q&A period at the end of the talk after the panelists' discussion.

First Time Zoomers

If this is your first Zoom seminar or webinar, please note that Zoom may ask to install a small piece of software for you to watch the seminar on your device. We highly recommend you go through the full process of registering and installing the software after being sent the confirmation email to resolve any potential issues in advance. To do so, please register for the seminar, then click on the link in the confirmation email to join the seminar. Once the software is installed, your browser will likely ask to open the Zoom application. If you see something like the following screen in the Zoom application, you are all set.

On Friday, you can again click on the link in the confirmation email to start the Zoom application and join the seminar. Shortly before the seminar on Friday, you will see the following screen. The seminar will then start automatically.

You can find additional information on how to use Zoom on their support pages, in particular for webinars:
